They were given a role to learn for class on Thursday. The play must come back and forth between school and home all week. Please help your child to learn his/her lines. Each student should know when it is their turn to speak and what the character's mood and tone is. Being able to show their understanding of the character within the play will be on-half of their final reading grade. The second half will come from a written assessment that they will complete in class on Friday. The only homework they will have all week is to practice their script.
Math: Students will be taking a math test on Thursday that will test their skills on using a menu, finding totals based on quantities and unit prices, subtotals to a bill, and calculating tax and/or tip. Science: Students are completing a design challenge during the first half of the week and will end the year with a philosophical chairs discussion, Homework:
Math - Hamburger Hut menu math. In class today, students picked food off a menu that matched certain criteria. Order 1 - $12 to spend on breakfast for 2; Order 2 - $30 to spend on lunch for 4; Order 3 - $45 to spend on dinner for 6; Order 4 - $10 for treats for 4. For homework, they will need to find taxes and tips for their orders. They have a sheet with 4 questions on - 1 for each order. Reading - Finish comprehension questions for Daedalus and Icarus. Thank you to all of the parents who came to Invention Convention yesterday. I was able to assess the students' projects today and will have their grades posted by end of day Monday.
Next week is our last full week of instruction. I will be taking grades until Friday. Please talk to your child about ending the school year on a positive note. Also, make sure your child has enough supplies to finish out the year (pencils, paper, etc.). Week ahead
Reading: We are continuing with our mythology unit. We will be reading four more Greek myths next week and working toward our final assessment, which will take place the week of the 12th - 16th. We are taking the REACH reading assessment during reading class on Monday. Math: We are going to continue with our lessons on Menu Math. Next week we will learn how to determine tips and taxes as we practice multiplying decimals. Students will have a final math test coming up the week of the 12th. Science: Thursday is Invention Convention. All of the students have been working very hard on their projects. Hopefully, you will have time to stop in between 9:00 - 10:30 and learn about some of the inventions. |
