Summer YSP
The Young Scholars Program (YSP) at the University of Chicago offers enthusiastic and talented math students from seventh through twelfth grades an opportunity to strengthen their mathematical powers through a deep experience in mathematical thought and effort. Our intention is to broaden and enrich the Chicago area students' understanding of mathematics rather than to accelerate them through the standard high school curriculum.
UChicago YSP is one of the longest running summer math programs in Chicago. Highly recommended! For more details, and to download the application, please visit our website www.math.uchicago.edu/ysp/summerschedule.html The Illinois Readiness Assessment (IRA) will be replacing the PARCC exam this year. Sixth grade is scheduled to take the test March 11 - 13. The test consists of 3 parts of mathematics and 2 parts of English Language Arts. Students will be testing approximately 2 hours each day. Make-up testing will take place on Friday, March 15th.
Please make sure your child is present each day of testing. This will cut down on missing more class time for make-up testing. Read the directions carefully for each assignment. If work is to be submitted through Google Classroom, be sure to CREATE the assignment and TURN IN when it is complete. Parent signatures are required in the boxes on the handout for each completed assignment for extra credit. All work is due no later than 9:00 AM Friday, March 29th.
