Homework:
Missing angles in shapes worksheets. Students should have their math notebook with them. Homework:
Math - Engage NY 4.4, lesson 15 Finish "Math in Art" Students received a Pablo Picasso picture (half sheet). They first need to number all of the quadrilaterals they see in the picture. Then they should measure each side. In their notebook, they are to record the type of quadrilateral and the perimeter (in centimeters). Reading - Figurative Language in Poetry. Students have two poems to read and find as many examples of figurative language as possible. They should write the examples on a separate page and label the type (spelling counts as all the words are written at the top of the page).
Students have a test tomorrow on figurative language. Please make sure you are using their flip books to help them study. Reminder -- Money for Field Day T-shirts and/or shorts is due to Mr. K by Friday. Today we continued to work on triangles in math -- classifying by sides and angles, finding missing angle measures (180 - 2 known angles), and finding perimeter.
On tonight's homework there was a mistake on the answer sheet. For problems 6-12, students should only classify the triangles by angles. I did not white out one of the angles for the missing measure part. In reading we are continuing our work on figurative language. Students should have their orange flip book at home to study from. The test is on Wednesday. The first half of the week in science, we are working on a bio-inspired engineering project. Thursday and Friday, students will be writing persuasive letters as part of their advocacy project. Letters about Invention Convention will be sent home by the end of this week. Walk-a-Thon registration is OPEN!

Reading: Figurative Language Worksheet 2 Welcome Back! I hope everybody had a good spring break. We have a lot of work to accomplish this fourth quarter.
In math, we will be finishing up our geometry unit during the next two weeks. We will focus on symmetry, classifying triangles, and classifying and identifying quadrilaterals. Every Tuesday, students will take a multiplication test on 0-9. Thursdays will be dedicated to the facts that students are individually mastering. The first half of the quarter will be dedicated to a poetry unit. The first week and a half will focus on figurative language. In science, we will be starting our Pilot Light Advocacy project on food waste. Students will also work on a bio-inspired engineering project. This project will help get them ready for Invention Convention. More information will be coming home soon! Homework: Math EngageNY lesson 12 (double-sided)/practice multiplication facts. Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on Wednesday, April 19th. Your child should have brought home a half sheet of paper with your scheduled time. If you cannot make that time, please email me, and I will try to reschedule your time.
Students who have not yet mastered their 0-9 multiplication facts are bringing home some additional fact practice to work on during the break. Have a safe and fun spring break. See you all on Monday, April 17th! Homework
