Hello to the families of Ms. Drewa's Science classes!
My name is Sean Murphy and I will be a student-teacher in Ms. Drewa's 5th and 6th grade classes this fall. I am appreciative of the opportunity to learn from you, your child, and the staff at Ray Elementary as I work to develop as an educator. Over the course of the spring I will be taking on more responsibilities in the classroom and eventually fully take over classes for an extended period. To do that successfully I feel it is important to connect with both students and their families, and I look forward to getting to know you and your child in the coming months. I am currently in the second year of a two year master's program at The University of Chicago to become a certified K-8 teacher with licenses for middle school ELA, Social Studies and Science. Throughout my program I have had opportunities in the small group tutoring of middle grades math and ELA, as well as whole group instruction as a student-teacher in a 6th-8th grade ELA classroom. Prior to that I worked for a year as a substitute in CPS that included a three month stretch in a 5th grade ELA/Social Studies classroom. Those experiences have taught me a lot, but I know I have much more to learn and my time at Ray will be an important part of my growth as a teacher. I will be teaching with Ms. Drewa until May 25th and I am fully committed to making the most of that time. I will be available to meet or talk via email ([email protected]) and please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you and the community at Ray Elementary to continue your child's growth and development. Sincerely, Sean Murphy Comments are closed.
