Reading homework; Finish Vocabulary if not finished in class. Write a definition for each word and then use that word in a sentence, with context clues to show you know the meaning.
We finished the reading section of PARCC today. Tomorrow we will begin the math portion.
Homework: Math - Missing Angles worksheet #3 (Students should show all work) Science - Food Web Activity. Students first read a short story. Then using the information in the story they create a food web. They are to cut out the attached pictures and glue them neatly on to the construction paper (provided). Then neatly draw arrows to show the flow of energy between all plants and animals. This assignment is due on Tuesday 4/4, but can be turned in early. No late assignments will be accepted as due to the furlough day on Friday, our grades must be submitted by 5 pm on Thursday (4/5). Homework:
Math - Finding Missing Angles worksheet -- students should have their notebooks with them. They are not using a protractors, but simply subtracting the smaller known angle measure from the overall angle measure to find the unknown angle. Other: Grade Status sheet needs a parent signature. After testing this morning, students went into Gradebook to look at their grades as the third quarter comes to an end. They were to write down overall grades and averages for each category for each of the five main subject areas. If they had any missing assignments they were to write those down as well. Please take time to go over your child's grades and sign the report for them to return. PARCC testing begins this week. We will be taking the reading parts of the test on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The math will take place from Thursday 3/30 - Tuesday 4/4. Each test will begin at 9:00, so it is important that all students are at school on time each day.
In reading this week, we will keep working on nonfiction mysteries. Our skill will shift to cause and effect and inferences. In math, we will focus on measuring and identifying types of angles. Students will practice using protractors to both measure and draw angles. During science, students will begin their final assessment project of the quarter. They will focus on animal adaptations in habitats. Students will be also have their second homework assignment this week. Parents please be reminded that the quarter ends on Thursday, April 6th. We need all of our students in attendance each day, so that no one misses any assessments or projects. Please check your child's homework log and the blog each night. There is no time to make up any missing assignments. It is very important that all work is turned in finished and on time. Homework:
Write a story using ALL 12 spelling words. Highlight or underline each word in the story. Draw a picture that goes along with the story. Spelling test is Friday. Homework:
Math - Fractions to decimals worksheet. Students should be bringing home their math notebook with notes and sample problems. Spelling - students are to choose 8 of their 12 el/le words to illustrate and use in a sentence. They should have a copy of their word list with them, if not the words are: bottle puzzle circle shovel camel squirrel example table handle towel nickel tunnel This week we will continue with nonfiction mysteries in reading class. Students will be reading short novels in guided reading groups on various mysteries. Our skill focus this week will be main idea/details and summarizing.
Our spelling words end in le/el. We took a pre-test today and students should be studying their list each night. In math we will focus on converting fractions with denominators that are factors of 100 to decimals. We will do this by writing equivalent fractions with denominators of 10 and/or 100. PARCC testing is next week. Homework: Planets in the Solar System main idea worksheet. Spelling - any word from the pre-test that was misspelled, needs to be written 5 times each. Homework:
Math - EDM Homelinks pages 83,85. Students should have their math notebooks with them for assistance. Science - What Is An Ecosystem? - Students should read the article and complete the handout which consists of a graphic organizer and two comprehension questions. The assignment is due on Friday, but they may turn it in tomorrow if they are finished early. |
